Lesson 7 Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this lesson the learner will:

  1. Differentiate the learning requirements an operator, a specialist in cosmetology, and a barber have to qualify and become a licensed practitioner.
  2. List the different types areas and courses an operator is required to take to become licensed.
  3. Recall the number of hours that the curricula requires for each section of the operator curricula so a total number of credit hours can be planned in order to get licensed as a cosmetology operator.
  4. Recollect the number of hours that the curricula requires for each section of the barbering curricula so a total number of credit hours can be planned in order to get licensed as a barber.
  5. Identify the standards requirements for each specialty, including the number of hours for each:
    • Barber
    • Esthetician
    • Manicurist
    • Esthetician/Manicurist combined
    • Eyelash Extensions Specialist
    • Hair Weaving Specialist
    • Wig Specialist
  6. Identify which curricula can be met by distance education and which can not, as well as how many hours for each section can be obtained via distance education.
  7. Recall the hour limits on distance education for barbering and cosmetology courses.
  8. Identify the curricula that can be met via field trips, which most commonly are trips to visit working barber and cosmetology establishments.
  9. Recall the time limits that apply to field trips for barber cosmetology courses.
